Frank Zappa’s band The Mothers of Invention, now called The Grandmothers of Invention’, will continue to tour after performing live throughout 2013.
The Grandmothers of Invention features Napoleon Murphy Brock, a member of the Mothers from 1974-1984 and Don Preston, who was a Mother from 1966-1974.
The Grandmothers started to perform again in 2002 after accepting an invitation from Germany to play a concert of Zappa’s music.
The alumni features the musicians who performed on Zappa’s best known recordings, ‘Weasels Ripped My Flesh’, ‘Apostrophe’, ‘The Grand Wazoo’, ‘Bongo Fury’, ‘One Size Fits All’ and ‘Freak Out’.
The Grandmothers of Invention are currently on tour in America and preparing for shows in 2014.
