Green Day and cartoonist Frank Caruso are copping shit for their upcoming book ‘Last of the American Girls’ about female empowerment.

Guardian writer Laura Snapes called Billie Armstrong, Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt “three washed-up male punks” when writing about the supposed “politically incorrect” project from the band.

The book, with images from Caruso, was announced via a Green Day tweet this week.

The book is named after the 2009 Green Day song ‘Last of the American Girls’

The lyrics are outraging the PC Police.

She puts her makeup on
Like graffiti on the walls of the heartland
She’s got her little book of conspiracies
Right in her hand
She is paranoid like
Endangered species headed into extinction
She is one of a kind
She’s the last of the American girls

“You can’t help but wonder if Green Day thought this through. Surely no self-respecting rebellious woman would buy a book about “female empowerment” by three washed-up punks,” Snapes snapped.

Maybe not, but the fans will. ‘Last of the American Girls’ for the Politically Correct parking cops. I’m guessing Green Day’s fan base won’t give a fuck … and there’s a lot of them.
