Green Day is on a major roll with the ‘Revolution Radio’ album set for a number one debut this week in the USA.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers were at the top of their game during the last decade with their first two number 1 albums, American Idiot (2004) and 21st Century Breakdown (2009). Then an ambitious trilogy of albums in 2012 (¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, ¡Tré!) saw them fall from the top ten followed by the bizarre behavior by lead Billie Joe Armstrong at the iHeartRadio Music Festival and his subsequent rehab.
That’s why it’s great to see that their brand new album, Revolution Radio, is headed for the top of the charts next week with sales of between 84,000 and 89,000 according to Hits Daily Double and 88,000 to 93,000 when streaming is added in.
The album should also have some staying power as the band is waiting until March to kick off their Revolution Radio tour in the U.S. after a short trip around Europe, with the first leg of dates that run through to early April. Included in the dates are appearances in Dallas, Houston, New York, Pittsburgh and Detroit.
Presale for the Idiot Nation begins tomorrow (October 12) at 9 AM local time. General sales begin Friday.
