Green Day will resume its tour in March following Billie Joe Armstrong’s stint in rehab.
The band ‘ which also consists of bassist Mike Dirnt, drummer Tré Cool and guitarist Jason White ‘ has been on a hiatus since the frontman’s onstage outburst in Las Vegas in September.
The 40-year-old rocker smashed his guitar during a foul-mouthed rant and sought help for substance abuse shortly thereafter.
Green Day’s commitments were put on hold during his treatment.
Billie Joe announced on Sunday the band is planning to resume shows in March 2013.
‘We can’t wait to get on the road and live out loud! Our passion has only grown stronger… Green day tour in March,’ he wrote on his Instagram account.
He also thanked fans for their support.
“Believe me, it hasn’t gone unnoticed and I’m eternally grateful to have such an amazing set of friends and family,’ he continued, adding that he is ‘getting better every day’.
Prior to his public breakdown, the band had been promoting three new albums, with the third installment initially due out in January 2013.
The band brought the release date forward to December 2012 to make up for the disappointment of cancelled shows.
“We feel bad we have to delay our tour, so to make up for it we want to give our fans the music earlier than we had planned,” Tré said at the time.
“If we couldn’t be there to play it for you live, the least we could do was give you the next best thing.”
