Marc Earley, bass player for The Growl, was based in Sydney early Monday morning now leaving the band’s SXSW trip in jeopardy.

Earley was attacked after playing at Sydney’s Laneway Festival and then heading to Surry Hills Oporto restaurant.

“His attacker blinded him with his left hand whilst intentionally breaking the ring finger on his left hand at a right angle, causing two fractures on the upper knuckle,” posted Cam from the band.

The Growl hail from Fremantle in Western Australia.

Marc had his finger snapped in the attack bringing his career as a musician to a sudden halt. “His attacker blinded him with his left hand whilst intentionally breaking the ring finger on his left hand at a right angle, causing two fractures on the upper knuckle. The Doctors at the emergency department at the Prince of Wales Hospital have told us that Marc must have surgery within 48 hours from a specialist to achieve any kind of full recovery which will allow Marc to continue his life as a working musician. I knew Marc didn’t have much regard for formalities, and so immediately reached out to the health insurance companies near me, from whom I’d insured myself from, and consulted with them on what could be done best for the expenses of his surgery,” Cam said.

The attack was unprovoked and Marc, being a working musician, was not in a financial position to have health or income insurance. “If you can spare anything to help Marc make a full recovery and get through this tough spot a donation would be so appreciated. His hands are his life,” said Cam.
