It’s another slow sales week, as Adele continues to dominate the ARIA charts.
We’re almost going to toss this weekly report in until Adele’s 21 leaves the top spot on the ARIA chart. Seriously, are there people left in the country who don’t own it yet?
There was a surprise debut this week for swoony Perth indie act The Panics, whose Rain On The Humming Wire popped up at number seven.
There were only two other debuts this week – The Drug In Me Is You by emo act Falling In Reverse (the new band for ex-Escape The Fate singer Ronnie Radke) emerged at 21 and the Angry Boys soundtrack at 36.
People must be getting bored with new music, as Kanye West, Drapht, Syndicate, Architecture In Helsinki and Lady Gaga’s first album all re-entered the tail end of the chart.
The biggest moves are from Gotye, whose hit single ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ has dragged his old debut Like Drawing Blood right back to number 19.
His new album Making Mirrors comes out in two weeks, and if a single can drag a five-year-old album back up to its original debut ranking, maybe Gotye can unseat the Adele juggernaut.
Until then, maybe the Chili Peppers I’m With You out at the end of August can do something.
