Gwar sing David Brockie aka Oderus Utungus has been confirmed dead by police in Richmond, Virginia.
Brockie, aged 50, died on Sunday March 23 after 3pm. Police were called to his house in West Seminary Avenue at 6:53pm Sunday.
Detectives at the scene said there were no suspicious circumstances.
Brockie went by the name Oderus Utungus in GWAR. His character was the humanoid with devil horns. He always carried a sword named Unt Lick.
Brockie started as Gwar’s guitar player. He moved to bass and then become lead singer.
Gwar formed in Richmond, Virginia in 1984. Their first album ‘Hello-O’ was released in 1988. Their 13th and most recent album ‘Battle Maximus’ was released in September, 2013.
Gwar recently performed in Australia as part of the Soundwave Festival. In the show, Brockie decapitated an effigy of Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott.
