This year, the iconic Gympie Music Muster (August 23-26) is introducing a bunch of new workshops and forums to their program, to give patrons an experience that is far more than just the regular live performances.
One of the most interesting events is the music industry forum – The Business of Music: How to Thrive in A World Beyond CD’s. The special event, for musicians, artists, and those involved in the music business, will include a panel of industry experts discussing how to navigate the new face of the music business, including social media, publicity, etc.
The panelists include:
• Jess Riches from Enriches Business … expert in social media
• Ken Outch … Marketing Consultant at Sony Music, who works with artists such as Jessica Mauboy and Guy Sebastian, and personally manages Adam Brand and Travis Collins
• Nick & Tom Wolfe from The Wolfe Brothers, and their manager Steve White from Stephen White Management
• A representative from APRA
• Simon Homer, who runs the Muster CD store and an independent record label called Plus One Records
Also for those interested in pursuing a career in music … there’s the long standing Muster Talent Search. The Muster Talent Search returns, with an all-new world-class prize pool including a trip to Nashville Tennessee, the career birthplace of some of the world’s most iconic musicians. Better yet, the winner will be escorted to all the Nashville hot spots by none other than Muster veterans, Golden Guitar and CMC award winners Troy Kemp, and Damien from the Viper Creek Band. Anyone, from the most fresh-faced newbie to the wisest crooner, is welcomed to try their luck in front of the Muster crowds and an esteemed judging panel. Past winners include Brooke McClymont, who this year is part of headlining act The McClymonts, proving that the Muster is a great launching pad for artists looking to make it.
And if that’s not enough inspiration to get your career mojo going … how about the Ukulele and Harmonica workshop, where you can learn from some of the industry’s best such as harp legend Ian Collard.
