Gypsy, starring Caroline O’Connor, has launched the 2013 season for Jeanne Pratt’s The Production Company.
Mrs Pratt launched The Production Company as a not-for-profit theatre company to bring affordable, quality theatre shows to everyone. The productions also create jobs for local directors, choreographers, designers, actors and musicians.
The company launched in 1999 and presents three shows every year.
For the 2013 season The Production Company is presenting ‘Gypsy’, ‘Singin’ In The Rain’ and ‘The Pirates of Penzance’.
Caroline O’Connor, who also starred in the recent production of ‘Chicago’ in Australia and on Broadway, has returned from New York to play Rose, the lead role in ‘Gypsy’.
The current production is directed by award winning director Gale Edwards.
‘Gypsy’ features the music of Jule Styne and Stephen Sondheim and the classic song ‘Everything’s Coming Up Roses’.
Singin’ In The Rain has six performances from 21 to 26 August and The Pirates Of Penzance has six performances from 30 October to 3 November.
‘Gypsy’ is on until July 14 at the State Theatre in Melbourne.
