The Happy Mondays Australian tour has been postponed until June. The reformed Happy Mondays line-up was due to start their Australian tour in Brisbane this Friday.
A statement from the band reads, “Due to unforeseen circumstances Manchester’s Happy Mondays have no choice but to announce that their May Australian tour will now be rescheduled to June, 2013. The Mondays are upset and apologise for not being able to make these original shows.”
This will be the first time the original line-up of Happy Mondays has ever performed in Australia. Happy Mondays are Paul Ryder, Shaun Ryder, Gary Whelan, Bez, Mary Day and Rowetta.
New Order’s Peter Hook who was originally on the tour performing a DJ set is no longer able to make the scheduled dates. Replacing Hook is 808 State.
Melbourne’s Underground Lovers will remain as special guests for the rescheduled shows.
New dates for Happy Mondays in Australia are:
June 5, Fremantle, Metropolis (new venue, replacing May 8)
June 6, Melbourne, Palace (replacing May 5)
June 7, Brisbane, Tivoli (replacing May 3)
June 10, Sydney, Roundhouse (replacing May 4)
