The Voice winner Harrison Craig’s ‘More Than A Dream’ album became the 4th fastest selling album of 2013 this week but was that good enough?

‘More Than A Dream’ sold 13,167 copies last week pushing it ahead of Birds of Tokyo ‘March Fires’ with 13,013 sales in its first week.

However, Birds of Tokyo debuted at number 1 on the ARIA chart without a reality TV show and 2 million viewers to promote them.

The sales boost of the reality star tends to be short-lived. Craig’s showcase single ‘Unconditional Love’ fell completely out of the Top 40 after only one week this week. It sold 3,273 units after plummeting from 15 to 47.

Compared to last year’s winner Karise Eden, The Voice winner sales numbers are down substantially this year. Karise Eden’s album sold 35,621 units in the first week and 45,558 in week two.Craig’s album was only on sale for four days of the chart week, not the full week. Eden’s first week sales were also have half a week in the chart.

Even judges Delta Goodrem and Ricky Martin came across a cruel case of “out of sight, out of mind’. Both fell out of the Top 10 this week after debuting only last week. Ricky Martin ‘Come With Me’ dropped to 11 with 12,626 sales and Delta Goodrem ‘Heart Hypnotic’ fell to 17 with 9,555 sales. Still the judges did better than the contestants once again even raising the question … who is this show for?

The fastest selling albums of 2013 so far are:

Daft Punk – Random Access Memories 49175
Michael Buble – To Be Loved 15487
Justin Timberlake – The 20/20 Experience 14613
Harrison Craig – More Than A Dream 13167
Birds of Tokyo – March Fires 13013
Queens of the Stone Age – Like Clockwork 12291
Bernard Fanning – Departures 11339
Bon Jovi – What About Now 9910
Paramore – Paramore 9821
Bring Me The Horizon – Sempiternal 9352
