The word doing the rounds at close of business today (September 16, 2013) was that Soundwave boss AJ Maddah has bought out Ken West’s share of Big Day Out.
At this point the rumour is unconfirmed but Noise11 has been advised that the sale may have happened last Friday.
AJ Maddah is the founder of both the Soundwave and Harvest Festivals and is expected to announce the cancellation of Harvest this week. Harvest was to feature Massive Attack, Franz Ferdinand, Primus, Goldfrapp, The Drones, Eels, Mutemath, M Ward, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and M Ward.
AJ said in a tweet last week “Since BDO announced a very top heavy Harvest-centric line-up (Blur, Arcade Fire, Lumineers, etc), sales have died”.

Soundwave’s first announcement features Green Day as headline act with Avenged Sevenfold, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice In Chains, Rob Zombie and Megadeth.
Big Out Out in January features Pearl Jam, Blur and Snoop Dogg.
Noise11 tried to contact the Big Day Out office today. Also a call to the Soundwave office was not met with a denial but was also not 100% confirmed.
