The historic 1982 Us Festival, featuring The Police, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Fleetwood Mac and Santana, is about to have a DVD release.
The Us Generation movie was made by filmmaker Glenn Aveni and co-directed by Jay Cederholm.
The DVD covers the three day festival performed in front of 400,000 people at Glen Helen Regional Park in San Bernadino, California on a 115 degree day.
The Us Festival was the brainchild of Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak whose vision was to create a celebration of Americana (before the term was even used).
Wozniak is interviewed for the film. Highlights include performances by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Police, Fleetwood Mac, The Talking Heads, Carlos Santana, The B-52s, The Cars; as well as archived appearances by Johnny & Joey Ramone, Carlos Santana, Sting, Ric Ocasek, Danny Elfman, and Fred Schneider.
The exclusive sit-downs are with festival founder Steve Wozniak, Mick Fleetwood, Eddie Money, Marky Ramone, Kate Pierson, Stewart Copeland, and Mickey Hart, among others.
The Us Festival will be released on DVD on 10 August, 2018.
