Wheatus, Alien Ant Farm, Hoobastank, Lit and CKY …did someone set the DeLoren for 2000?
Some of the 90s biggest one hit wonders have gathered for the Sing It Loud festival set to tour Australia in September and October.
Wheatus were all over the radio in 2000 with ‘Teenage Dirtbag’. The song was a no 1 hit in Australia although it failed to make the Top 100 in the USA.
Alien Ant Farm were smart. They called their debut album ‘Greatest Hits’. It was a wise move. Their cover of Michael Jackson’s ‘Smooth Criminal’ was just about it in 2001 although they had a minor hit with the follow-up ‘Movies’ in 2002 (so they might be allowed an encore.
Hoobastank had a Top 10 hit with ‘The Reason’ in 2003. The closest they got to another hit was ‘The Letter’ (with Vanessa Amorosi) in 2009.
Likewise, LIT were struggling to find another song after ‘My Own Worst Enemy’ in 1999.
CKY (Camp Kill Yourself) is the fifth band on the bill. They have played on Warped (1999) and have supported Guns N Roses and Metallica.
