Ian Anderson will perform his classic Jethro Tull’s Thick As A Brick masterpiece when he tours Australia in December under his own name, not the bands.
Anderson has put to rest the Jethro Tull name but will continue to perform the Tull classics in his “twilight years”. “My use of the name is something I have been careful about as I get older,” Ian tells Noise11.com. “I had been recording under the name Jethro Tull since 1968. Its something that I am very proud of. Its a huge body of repertoire that I am very proud of and I have absolutely no intention of giving up playing. It is stuff I wrote. I am indelibly entwined with the past of Jethro Tull but I just feel that in my twilight years, forgive the vanity but, I would just like to stick my bald head above and say “my name is Ian Anderson. That is my preference in my final years to keep my own name in the frame. You can call me Mr Tull. I don’t get upset by it. People call me Jethro or Mr Tull, they call me a lot worse things than that”.
Ian Anderson will perform Thick As a Brick and the best of Jethro Tull in Australia in December for Live Nation.
Ian Anderson Australian tour dates
December 11, Sydney, Opera House
December 13, Brisbane, QPAC
