After 5 weeks Ian Molly Meldrum has been transferred from The Alfred Hospital to The Epworth to begin rehabilitation for the injuries he suffered from his fall from a ladder on December 15.
Molly has made good progress since the accident but still has a long way to go, with the expectation that he will spend most of this year recovering from the injuries.
At The Alfred Molly was operated on for his fractured vertebra, ribs and shoulder. He also suffered a fractured skull from the 3 metre fall while hanging Christmas lights at his home in Richmond.
Molly spend 5 weeks in Intensive Care at The Alfred and will now spend the coming months recovering at Epworth Rehabilitation.
He continues to suffer from post traumatic amnesia and while he is uttering the occasional word and responding to doctors instructions it is uncertain at this stage if he is aware of what happened on that December day.
Other than his brother Brian and friend Yael Cohen, no visitors are permitted at this stage.
“He has a long rehabilitation road ahead of him, but we’ll keep you informed of his progress and thank you again, from the bottom of our hearts, for your concern and love,” Brian said in a statement.
