Rapper Iggy Azalea is trying her hand at television after inking a major production deal with bosses at NBC Universal.
Iggy Azalea recently set up her Azalea Street production company, and on Monday, she revealed her firm struck an agreement with the massive corporation, and now she’s gearing up to create scripted content for the small screen.
Iggy, real name Amethyst Kelly, posted a photo of the company’s logo, which features two intersecting street signs with the words “Azalea St.” and “Productions” in a black-and-white illustration.
She added the caption, “Wanted to share with everyone that my production company “Azalea Street” has just signed on to create original content for UniversalNBC! So guys, I’m an Executive Producer for at least a few years to come! Hopefully many!
“Lots of scripted series in the works! Lots of interesting ideas! I’ve been working on this for a long time now and can’t wait to share more info with you soon. #careerwoman #girlplansgodLaughs”.
The firm’s name comes from the Australian street she grew up on, and also served as the inspiration for her stage name.
Iggy’s new venture comes a month after splitting from her ex-fiance and basketball star Nick Young. Their romance of nearly three years ended amid allegations of his infidelity, which first arose in March (16) when a video apparently showing him admitting to cheating on his girlfriend was leaked online.
Although Iggy initially stuck by him to try to work things out, it became clear their relationship was irreparable, and the Los Angeles Lakers star has since confirmed he is preparing to become a father again with his ex, Keonna Green. They share a four-year-old son called Nick, Jr.
