The Independent Music Awards have opened up applications for for artists for the $50,000 grant to boost profile overseas from Carlton Dry.
The grant is awarded annually at the Carlton Dry Independent Music Awards with the Australian Independent Record Labels Association (AIR).
To qualify for the grant applicants must be an Australian band or solo act with a self-released recording or released through an independent label.
AIR Chairman David Vodika said in a statement, “this Grant is something that AIR is very proud of. We can’t think of a more direct way to help a great emerging artist in their career. The fact that the whole thing was instigated by Carlton Dry shows the value of our partnership with them.”
Last year’s winner was King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. According to AIR, “the grant helped fund a recent tour of the US, with shows in Dallas, Chicago and Washington, a slot on the legendary Austin Psychfest, residencies in New York City and additional dates in Canada. The prize money was also used to rent a ranch for a month in upstate New York where the band worked on a new record”.
Applications for the grant will close on September 1, 2014. The winner will be announced at the Carlton Dry Independent Music Awards in October.
