INXS should have the number one and two album again this week based on sales for the first half of this week.
As for singles, for most of the week, UK band Clean Bandit have been sitting at the top of the local charts with their track “Rather Be”, which looks to be on track for the new National No.1 single here in Australia, pushing Pharrell’s “Happy” back down to No.2 again.
Current visitor to our shore Kim Cesarion could leap into the Top 3 with his track “Undressed”, which would make Australia the highest charting place for the song anywhere in the world (#6 in Denmark, #7 in Sweden), and “Say Something” by A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera should stay within the top five, whilst there’s the potential for boy-band 5 Seconds of Summer to debut high on the charts with their track “She Looks so Perfect”, which has been flying high for most of the week.
Retaining their Top 10 status should be Sara Bareilles, Cash Cash, American Authors and Avicii, with either John Legend or Rudimental taking the last top ten spot. “The Man” (HP-11, TW-16) for Aloe Blacc should climb back up a little, whilst the new Lily Allen track “Air Balloon” (TW-15) should be just outside the Top 10. The upcoming March TV series ‘Resurrection’ has been playing promos containing the Gabrielle Aplin cover of the Jennifer Rush 1985 No.1 single “The Power of Love” (HP-1×1 in UK Dec 2012), with the song looking to debut within the Top 20 this coming weekend.
Eminem’s current national tour looks like boosting his latest track “Headlights” with Nate Ruess into the Top 20, whilst Neon Jungle with “Braveheart” (TW-39) could also be a Top 20 contender, while INXS’ “Never Tear us Apart” (TW-11) could be back down to just outside the twenty this coming weekend. The new David Guetta track “Shot Me Down” featuring Skylar Grey could land a Top 30 debut, whilst Peking Duk look set to climb into the thirty with “High” (TW-40). Looking at a Top 40 entry could be Lea Michele with “On My Way” and Ryan Keen could climb with “Old Scars” (TW-51), as too Mikhael Paskalev with “I Spy” (TW-52).
Lower 50: Zendaya should climb with “Replay” (TW-66) and Foster the People could see their new track “Pseudologia Fantastica” enter, both within the Top 60, while it seems that INXS could have several songs within the same region in the form of “Don’t Change” (TW-59), “Need You Tonight” (TW-28) and “By My Side” (TW-53). DJ Snake and Lil’ Jon could enter with “Turn Down for What” as too Jason DeRulo with “Stupid Love”, both within the Top 70, whilst Paloma Faith could land her first chart entry in Australia with her new track “Can’t Rely on You” (Top 80) and dance act The Chainsmokers could be taking a chart “#SELFIE” within the Top 100. Potential chart entries just outside the one-hundred could come from Dizzee Rascal & Jessie J with “We Don’t Play Around”, Marvin Priest with “Higher”, Sam Smith’s debut solo single “Money on My Mind”. Art vs. Science with their comeback song “Create / Destroy”, and Justin Bieber with Chance the Rapper on “Confident”.
Albums: INXS look set for another week at the top of the ARIA Albums chart this coming weekend with their “Very Best of” collection, whilst “Kick” looks also set for another week in second position.
Rudimental’s upcoming tour here helps the newly repackaged “Home” (TW-12) album back into the Top 10, while Robbie Williams’ promo tour, and just announced concert in November should help his current album “Swings Both Ways” (TW-18) leap back into the ten this week. With the new Hillsong album out this week, another church group in the form of Bethel Music (Bethel Church) could enter with their “Tides Live” set, whilst Beck is on track for a Top 10 debut with his new album “Morning Phase”.
The just announced tour in May for Lady GaGa could see her “ArtPop” album return to the Top 100 within the Top 20 this week, whilst “Atlas” (TW-38) for Rufus looks set for another jump up the charts. In May 2013, Gabrielle Aplin took her debut album “English Rain” (HP-22) into the charts for four weeks, and with the above mentioned “Power of Love” looking set for a Top 20 debut, her album might just return within the same region. Also set for a possible debut within the twenty are The Fray with their new set “Helios”, with Major Lazer looking set to enter just outside with his “Apocalypse Soon (EP)”.
Eminem’s current national tour looks like pulling some of his older albums back into the albums chart this weekend, with “The Eminem Show” (Top 30), “Curtain Call: The Hits” (Top 40), “Slim Shady LP”, “Marshall Mathers LP” and Relapse” (Top 100). Kanye West’s just announced tour saw his “Yeezus” album return at No.53 this past week, and it looks likely to jump into the Top 40 this weekend, whilst further Top 50 entries could come from Funkoars with “Dawn of the Head” (EP) and Sara Bareilles returning with “The Blessed Unrest”, which made it to No.73 in July 2013. Chet Faker’s album “Thinking in Textures” (HP-44) came back in at No.54, and this week it could surpass its former peak by making it into the Top 40 for the first time.
Lower 50: Further entries could come from Papa vs. Pretty with “White Deer Park”, The Holiday’s with “Real Feel”, the self-titled albums for St. Vincent and 2Cellos, the new Ru Paul album “Born Naked” (which would become her first albums chart entry here), Ryan Keen with his set “Room for Light”, and potentially Miner could enter with their set “Into the Morning”.
