Appropriately enough, Jack White will soundtrack the forthcoming Lone Ranger film starring Johnny Depp.
Oscar winning director Gore Verbinski, who has previously worked with Depp on Rango and The Pirates of the Caribbean, is working on the adaptation of the ‘50s and ‘60s Western radio and television series.
Depp plays the Lone Ranger’s Native American companion Tonto, and the title character himself is played by Armie Hammer (who played the Winkelvoss twins in The Social Network).
White’s appointment as soundtrack composer was announced at film business conference CinemaCon.
He will write, produce and perform the score, and incorporate the classic theme for the series ‘The William Tell Overture’.
Lone Ranger is slated for release on May 30 next year.
