Jackie Barnes is going to be a father. The 27-year old son of Jimmy and Jane Barnes has announced that he and wife Stephanie have a child on the way.
Jackie announced the news to his friends and family in a Facebook post early Sunday evening. “Hello everyone, I am so excited to announce that my wife Stephanie Barnes and I are expecting our first child due in August. We can’t wait to be parents!”
Jackie was 5-years old when he had his first hit song, ‘Walk the Dinosaur’ as a member of The Tin Lids with his sisters Mahalia, EJ and Elly-May. Their album, ‘Hey Rudolph’, a collection of Christmas songs, released in 1991, sold over 100,000 copies in Australia.
The Tin Lids recorded tow more albums, ‘Snakes and Ladders’ (1992) and ‘Dinosaur Dreaming’ (1993).
The kids also sang backing vocals on their dad Jimmy Barnes’ hit song ‘When Your Love Is Gone’.
At age 20, Jackie recorded the song ‘Same Woman’ as a duet on Jimmy’s ‘Double Happiness’ album.
Jackie then moved to Boston to study music and in 2010 graduated with a Bachelor of Music from the Berklee College of Music.
Jackie has played on recordings for his sister Mahalia and EJ, Diesel’s ‘Coathanger Antennae’ album and The 12th Man’s ‘Boned’.
It is rumoured but unconfirmed that with just a short 5 years and 9 months until Jackie and Stephanie’s child will be the same age that he was when he first recorded that Michael Gudinski dusted off the Jag and flew straight around to Jackie’s house to sign up his first-born.
Congrats you two!
