Jade Alice has won the Melbourne Music Bank prize for 2015.
Melbourne Music Bank, now in its third year, is an initiative from the Bank of Melbourne as a platform to launch new artists in the state of Victoria.
Melbourne based Jade Alice had previously won the ACMF songwriting competition in 2012. She sees herself as equal parts singer and songwriter. “If you listen to the music I’ve written and you see me, then you aren’t really getting much out of it, but if you listen to that music and you see yourself, then you may learn things about yourself and the song’s purpose,” she said.
Jade Alice performed her catchy ‘Kick Drum’ at the finals for the Melbourne Music Bank.
Jade Alice faced stiff competition with an excellent performance from hip-hop act DL, himself a former winner of the 2012 John Lennon songwriting contest, rock band Napier who were definitely the best live act of the night and singer songwriter Sam O’Connell from the Mornington Peninsula, who at 18 years of age was the youngest finalist on the night.
All four acts will be names to watch in coming years.
Jade Alice won:
– 2 days of recording at Sing Sing
– A film clip from Oh Yeah Wow
– Media Training
– A plugger, publicist, manager, agent and mentor
– A professional photo shoot
– Album artwork design and CDs
– A live CD launch
– The chance for the song to feature in a Bank of Melbourne ad.
