The star of the James Bond movie ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’ will be on display in Melbourne this month as part of RACV Motorclassica.
The 1969 Aston Martin DBS will be housed at the Royal Exhibition Building from 25-27 October. The DBS was only used in ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’. The Sean Connery Bond drove an Aston Martin DB5 only once for the movie ‘Goldfinger’. The Aston Martin was not used again in a Bond movie until ‘The Living Daylights’ featuring Timothy Dalton in 1987.
‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’ was the only James Bond movie to feature Australian George Lazenby as Bond. Lazenby replaced Sean Connery but only lasted one movie due to a personality conflict with the producers.
The James Bond Aston Martin showing is nice timing for the next Room8 production of The Songs of James Bond, starting at the Atheneum Theatre on November 8 and 9. The Songs of James Bond will feature Maria Mercedes, Kiyomi Vella, Susie Ahern and Ben Mingay performing the theme songs from across the 23 James Bond movies.
