James Taylor will stay in the top ten on the Billboard Albums chart this week with Before This World.
This week’s charts, the first to be published on a Tuesday, will reflect the same seven days as those from last week’s tally plus an additional four days so that the charts can be realigned with the new Friday release date.
According to Hits Daily Double, sales on Taylor’s album only fell 15% during that period, an extraordinarily strong showing. In comparison, last week’s number 1 album, Breaking Benjamin’s Dark Before Dawn, saw its sales fall 72%.
That puts Taylor at number 3 on their Building Albums Sales chart with projected sales of 42,900. When streaming is added in (as Billboard now does), he falls to number 6 with album equivalent sales of 43,400.
Neil Young’s The Monsanto Years has projected first week sales of 17,600, putting him at 18 on the Sales chart, and equivalent sales of 18,100 for number 38 on the Sales + Streaming tally.
New charts are out on Tuesday.
