James Taylor’s new album ‘Before This World’ is on track for a number one debut.
Just about every industry expert is saying that James Taylor is about to have the first number 1 album of his career in the United States.
Early projections have Taylor selling around 75,000 copies and upwards of 80,000 when streaming and track equivalent albums are added in. That will far outdistance the second biggest new release of the week by Adam Lambert who is projected at 35,000 / 40,000.
Taylor is one of the most beloved singer/songwriters of the rock era but he has never made it to number one on the Albums chart (he did have one #1 single with You’ve Got a Friend in 1971). He came closest with his second and third albums, Sweet Baby James and Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon.
