Jane Henson, co-founder of The Muppets with her former husband Jim Henson, has died at the age of 78.
Jane died at her home in Connecticut after fighting cancer.
Born in Queens, New York in 1934, Jane became a puppeteer and puppet designer. She created Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy.
She met Jim Henson in the mid 1950s and they created the short TV program Sam and Friends. Jim and Jane married and Jane gave up work to raise her family. The Henson’s had five children.
Jim and Jane separated in 1986. Jim died in 1990. She created the Jim Henson Legacy to continue to promoter the work they created.
