Bluesfest has opened up a contest for Melbourne’s jazz musicians to open for Miles Electric Band at Hamer Hall on April 15, presented by Noise11.com.

Solo and duo acts are invited to submit an email including a live performance or rehearsal video, links to stream your music and a bio to –
win@bluesfest.com.au by Sunday 2nd of April.

Miles Electric Band is the all-star band featuring Miles Davis alumni including Grammy nominee Robert Irving III, legendary Parliament Funkadelic guitarist Blackbyrd McKnight, Munyungo Jackson and Grammy winner Vince Wilburn, Jr. (Davis’ nephew) on drums. Darryl Jones, recognised for his recordings with Davis, Sting and decades long tour duty for the Rolling Stones provides the bass backbone. Davis’ long time keyboardist John Beasley also plays with the band. Finding a trumpeter to join this illustrious group was no small task, but when the Davis Estate heard Grammy winner Christian Scott play, they knew he was worthy.

Miles Electric Band will be performing the three electric Miles Davis albums of the 70s, ‘Bitches Brew’, ‘Jack Johnson’ and ‘On the Corner’.

Noise11.com presents Miles Electric Band at Hamer Hall Melbourne on Saturday 15 April 2017. Get tickets here.
