The Daytime Emmy Awards have traditionally been the bastion of soap operas, game shows and talk programs but, as television has evolved, so have the awards.

Now including categories for cooking shows and “Digital Daytime Drama Shows”, the awards also are recognising musical performances both on daytime talk shows and the various morning shows who have been trying to one-up each other with bigger and bigger names in concert.

The nominees for Outstanding Musical Performance in a Talk Show/Morning Program includes two veteran artists, Jeff Lynne’s ELO for an appearance on CBS This Morning and Annie Lennox for her performance on The Talk.

The two vets go up against three modern artists, Mark Ronson Featuring Bruno Mars (The Ellen DeGeneres Show), Rachel Platten (Good Morning America) and Adele (Today).
