When you are next on the Red Carpet and you are asked, “whom are you wearing” your answer may just be ‘Jimi Hendrix’.
Hendrix is getting his own Lyric Culture clothing line.
The Hendrix Lyric Culture series will be sold exclusively at Bloomingdale’s stores across the USA from this week.
The designs will feature the words of Jimi’s most celebrated songs
“We’re delighted to partner with Lyric Culture to launch this line of Jimi Hendrix apparel and jewelry,” said Janie Hendrix, Jimi’s sister and CEO of Experience Hendrix LLC. “Jimi’s words, music and handwriting have been cherished by so many for so long and this underscores how resonant his art has been all this while and, certainly into the future.”
“We are honored to celebrate the 70th birthday of Jimi Hendrix with a new Lyric Culture men’s fashion collection inspired by the fearless and innovative lyrics of one of rock music’s most influential artists,” said Hanna Rochelle, founder of Lyric Culture. “His legendary style and iconic music is integrated into every design. Some pieces even include Jimi’s actual handwritten lyrics incorporated into the fabric prints,” she continued.
Jimi would have been 70 on November 27, 2012.
As part of the launch this week Billy Cox will perform at the Iridium Jazz Club in New York this Saturday and Sunday, November 10 and 11. The shows, billed as Billy Cox Band of Gypsies, will feature Eric Gales, Andy Aledort and Steve Stevens.
Cox will also be signing at the 59th and Lex Bloomingdales store on November 8.
Jimi Hendrix Band of Gypsys featured Hendrix, Cox and Buddy Miles. Their 1970 live album was released just six months before Jimi’s death.
