Jimmy Barnes and Kasey Chambers are going neck and neck for the number one album in Australia for this weekend.
Barnes’ ’30:30 Hindsight’ and Kasey’s ‘Bittersweet’ are both high priority releases but Jimmy has a headstart with his album also a prizes Father’s Day gift.
Taylor Swift looks set for another week atop the ARIA Singles chart this coming weekend as her second Australian No.1 “Shake it off” should keep Meghan Trainor at No.2 with her “All About that Bass”.
Redfoo and Paloma Faith both performed on the X-Factor this past week, and Redfoo’s No.24 debut this past week with “New Thang” and Paloma’s former No.1 single “Only Love Can Hurt like This” (TW-10) look both set to leap into the top five this weekend. Retaining their Top 10 status should be Klingande, Timmy Trumpet, Lilly Wood & the Prick and Nicki Minaj.
The notable song climbing back up this week into the Top 20 is Sam Smith with “Stay With Me”, which might also give X-F act Reigan Derry claim to the highest new entry of the week with their rendition of “Stay With Me” currently sitting within the digital Top 10. Further X-Factor acts to enter this week should come from weekly entrants Brothers3 with their version of Avicii’s “Hey Brother”, Sydnee Carter and her version of the February No.1 single “Say Something”, Jason Heerah with his performance of “Higher Ground” (Stevie Wonder/R.H.C.P’s), whilst further down we could see entries from eliminated act this week Tee and “Dedication to My Ex (Miss That)” (Lloyd) and Dean Ray with his cover of The Killers track from 2003 “Mr. Brightside”.
Echosmith came in at No.60 with their track “Cool Kids” this week, which looks set for a jump into the higher end of the Top 30 this weekend as too Becky G with “Shower” (TW-34). Pitbull and his “Fireball” (New TW-44) looks likely to jump into the Top 30 whilst The Madden Brothers could land a Top 40 berth with their second single “Dear Jane”, and also landing a debut within the Top 50 could be Duke Dumont with his Black Box infused new song “Won’t Look Back”, close by is Pentatonix with their mash-up of the Naughty Boy and Disclosure (with Sam Smith) songs now known as “La La Latch”.
Further entries lower down could come via Missy Higgins with her release for this week, a cover of the Don Walker penned song “The Way You Are Tonight” (Top 60), Fences with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis on “Arrows” (Top 70), Vance Joy with “My Kind of Man”, The Preatures with “Somebody’s Talking” (both Top 80), Tim McGraw is selling his track “Overrated”, as too the new Train song “Give it All” (both Top 90) and then comes Hopium featuring Phoebe Lou with “Dreamers”, Ryan Adams with “Tired of Giving Up”, PRIORY and “Weekend”, whilst we might see Barbra Streisand and Michael Buble sneak in with their duet on the classic “It Had to Be You”.
Albums:
There are two new Australian albums out this week vying for the No.1 spot on the ARIA Albums chart, both acts have had multiple chart-topping albums too, so will Jimmy Barnes with “30:30 Hindsight” or Kasey Chambers’ “Bittersweet” claim the top spot.
There might be a third contender for the top this week too, as Paloma Faith appeared on X-Factor this week and is in the country at the moment, so her third album “A Perfect Contradiction” (TW-15) could jump up to a new peak of even the top spot. Retaining their Top 10 status should be The Hilltop Hoods, Sam Smith, Guardians of the Galaxy Soundtrack, Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande plus we could see the fifth album for Maroon 5 “V” enters within the Top 10 this coming weekend.
Dead Letter Circus could see their new EP “Stand Apart” enter within the Top 20, and the current tour for Queen and Adam Lambert is helping the bands “Greatest Hits” (TW-27) to keep climbing higher, this week is no exception, whilst we could see Brad Paisley debut within the Top 30 with his latest “Moonshine in the Trunk”.
2013 The Voice contestant Celia Pavey could see her debut EP “Bodies” land within the Top 40, so too the soundtrack to the new film “If I Stay”, which features tracks from A Great Big World, Beck, Sonic Youth and The Orwells. The mass return for Rodriguez albums this week should only drop somewhat, as he’ll be touring here soon, and Justin Timberlake’s pending tour is also helping his recent “20/20 Experience(s)” and “FutureSex/LoveSounds” album to return to the charts, whilst we could also see Echosmith debut with their album “Talking Dreams”.
