Jimmy Barnes’ documentary movie ‘Working Class Boy’ will debut in over 220 screen around Australia this Thursday (23 August 2018).

‘Working Class Boy’ takes Barnes’ bestseller biography to the big screen. The movie was directed by Mark Joffe (Spotswood, Cosi, The Man Who Sued God).

Joffe starts the story in Glasgow where Jimmy was born and follows his journey to Australia as a kid. The brutally honest film tells a warts and all story of child abuse, drugs and alcohol and explains “how James Dixon Swan became Jimmy Barnes’.

“I trust Mark artistically and emotionally, we’ve been through a lot together and he’s a close, dear friend. I knew he would do a good job and to be honest, he’s exceeded my expectations,” said Barnes.

‘Working Class Boy’ follows the Jimmy journey from birth to the start of Cold Chisel. The second book ‘Working Class Man’, tells of the history of Chisel and Jimmy as a solo artist.

‘Working Class Boy’ will screen nationally from Thursday.

Working Class Boy – The Soundtracks is out now on Bloodlines Music with Jimmy Barnes giving his royalties from the album sales for this year to help drought relief efforts.
