Black Sorrows legend Joe Camilleri has been the victim of theft after a scum sucker broke into his car in Parkville on Saturday morning, stealing some of his most treasured instruments.
Joe’s one of a kind saxophone, hand-painted by Victor Rubin, and a Nash Telecaster guitar were amongst the stolen items.
The thief also made off with a small amp, pedals, CDs and one of Joe’s rings.
The theft has been reported to the police.
Australian artist Victor Rubin painted the sax around the time of the ‘Crooked Little Thoughts’ album. Rubin also did the artwork for the album. The sax has been with Joe since. The saxophone is such a unique item it would be impossible to sell.
The thief broke into a number of cars in Parkville early this morning. The Black Sorrows had played last night in Yarraville and used the equipment at the gig. They need to replace the stolen items by tonight for their show at Riddells Creek Hotel.
Anyone with information on the stolen items is asked to connect with their local police station.
