Joel Madden says Nicole Richie spoilt the Olympic closing ceremony for him.
The musician was left frustrated when he argued with his wife over what to watch as she was enjoying one of her favourite films.
The Good Charlotte rocker thinks the mother of his children has bad taste in movies.
‘The final ceremony of the Olympics was on. I’ve been working in the studio so I missed most of the Olympics and all I wanted was to come home and watch the final. But she’s watching one of ten movies she watches all the time,’ he told Australian radio show Kyle & Jackie O. ‘She watches Glitter, she watches First Wives Club.True Beverly Hills. She watches all these awful movies. One day, when I’ve had enough, when I can’t take this anymore, I’m going to put one of these movies on loop and…’
Joel went on to joke about his spouse’s other annoying habits.
The Voice Australia judge has been with TV star Nicole, the daughter of Lionel Richie, since 2006. The couple married in 2010 and raise two children together, four-year-old daughter Harlow and son Sparrow, two.
‘First of all, she has this interview voice that really gets on my nerves. You know when you hear your boyfriend or girlfriend talking to someone and you’re like ‘Shut up’? She’s not that nice in real life,’ he laughed.
He also named his fashion designer wife as ‘the worst’ packer because she never travels light.
‘We can’t count the amount of bags she brought. It’s somewhere in the neighbourhood of 10 to 15, and I’m not even kidding. When we left after the last show of The Voice and I was like, ‘Let’s just go home the very next day and get the kids home’, I asked her to pack all the bags. She said yes and then she didn’t pack all the bags – we nearly missed our flight,’ he recalled. ‘I had to throw all this s**t in a bag and then we forgot all the bags at the apartment, so our security guy had to go and get all of them. I felt horrible. I told him, ‘You can leave it, I’m going to come back so even if it’s there for a year at least I’ll come back and get it’. She’s the worst with packing, man, she’s the worst.’
