Joey Ryan of Milk Carton Kids says their PR company got ahead of themselves with the pre-promotion of the new album ‘Monterey’ but fans should not worry, he and Kenneth Pattengale are fine.
“I don’t want people to be too concerned about us despite the mood of the new album. We are actually doing quite well,” Ryan tells Noise11.com.
Fans can be forgiven for expecting an album about Armageddon based on the initial press release for ‘Monterey’. ‘Monterey’ is described as “starting with a world in flames and closes at a gravesite”.
“As early as it is, I think there is much being made, even more than I would prefer, of the literary threads through the album,” Ryan said. “That quote is a direct reflection of literally the imagery of the first song and the closing lines of the last song. It quite literally starts with a world in flames although they are not literal flames. It is merely the autumn leaves changing and dark times ahead”.
