John Butler Trio has given us the first taste of their forthcoming album in the form of a zombified video for new single, ‘Only One’.
The video for ‘Only One’ features a hoard of zombies grooving (see: convulsing) to the zombie-John Butler Trio, who move with puppet-like stiffness.
Directed by Perth’s Ben Young, the clip is certainly odd and is a very different vibe to what we’ve come to expect from the group. With the current zombie craze sweeping the world, could we see JBT pioneering a new genre called ‘zombie-folk’?
“Only One is one of those ‘turn around’ songs. The idea of a Zombie love story came to me a while ago. I wanted the song and video almost to be juxtaposed but still somehow have an element of love….and humour. I think we made a seriously cool and funny video. I love it. Even if I do look dead,” said John Butler.
‘Only One’, is the first single off the group’s new aptly titled album, ‘Flesh and Blood’, which is due for a worldwide release on February 7th. You can purchase the single digitally now.
