John Fogerty is once again in a legal conflict with former Creedence Clearwater Revival bandmates Stu Cook and Doug Clifford.
Cook and Clifford formed a new band, Creedence Clearwater Revisited, in 1995, performing the music of CCR but Fogerty sued them two years later over the use of the name. After a period when they were forced to change the name of the group to Cosmo’s Factory, after a Creedence album, they won in court and a separate agreement was struck in 2001 allowing them to use the Creedence Clearwater name and pay Fogerty for the use of his songs.
In the new filing, made on Friday, Fogerty claims that Cook and Clifford have not paid him any of their agreed money since December 2011.
Both Cook and Clifford, along with the widow of Tom Fogerty, filed a preemptive lawsuit against Fogarty last December as they feared that John was about to make a move on them. They alleged copyright infringement and that Fogerty’s lawyers were regularly harassing them with threats.
It is not known how much Fogerty is seeking.
