Jon English Paris To Be Staged As A Tribute To The Late Rock Star

The Jon English rock opera Paris will be performed in Melbourne as a tribute to English, who died in 2016.

The cast of Paris is John Waters (Ulysses), Ben Mingay (Achilles), Tim Freedman (Agamemnon), Matthew Manahan (Paris), Madeleine Featherby (Helen), Brian Mannix (Sinon), Scott Johnson (Hector), Kerrie Anne Greenland (Cassandra), Mark Dickinson (Menelaus), Tod Strike (Patroclus), John O’May (Priam), Cameron MacDonald (Ajax) and featuring Jonathan Sora-English in the Paris Band.

Jon English wrote Paris with music producer David Mackay. The two had collaborated on Jon’s 1983 album ‘Some People’. The ‘Paris’ album was released in 1990 but the first stage production did not take place until 2003.

The original album had an all-star cast with Demis Roussos, David Atkins, Barry Humphries, Doc Neeson, John Parr and Terence Donovan all contributing. John Waters also performed on the original album was Agamemnon.
