The condition of legendary singer songwriter Joni Mitchell has worsened with Joni reported to be in a coma and completely unresponsive to treatment.
On March 31, Mitchell was rushed to UCLA Medical Center after she was found unresponsive in her home but subsequent messages from her organization said that she was awake in the ambulance on the way to the hospital and was getting better each day.
UPDATE: JONI MITCHELL IS NOT IN A COMA. OFFICAL STATEMENT RELEASED
TMZ reports that her close friend, Leslie Morris, has filed the documents necessary to become Mitchell’s conservator, which would put her in charge of Mitchell’s financial and personal affairs.
Mitchell suffers from Morgellons Disease, which is little understood in medical circles. The disease can cause thread like structures under the skin and can give sufferers the sensation that there is something crawling inside of them. Depending on the doctor, it is considered either a physical illness or a result of a mental condition.
Joni’s first album was 1968’s Song to a Seagull but it was 1969’s Clouds, which included the classics Chelsea Morning and Both Sides Now, that brought her to the public’s attention. She followed with the classics Ladies of the Canyon (1970), Blue (1971), For the Roses (1972) and her only number 1 album, Court and Spark (1974). Her last album was 2007’s Shine.
