US band Journey, together with Live Nation Entertainment, Creative Artists Agency and their manager John Baruck, have donated $350,000 for the relief efforts in the Philippines following the recent typhoon that killed over 4000 people.
Journey lead singer Arnel Pineda is from the area and lives in Manila. This weekend he met with the World Food Programme’s Executive Director Ertharin Cousin and announced the donation. Journey is also inviting fans to join the effort and donate at www.wfpusa.org/journey.
The World Food Programme will ensure that 2.5 million homeless people will receive food and emergency needs in the area. “We’re honored to have Journey’s support and Arnel Pineda’s leadership on this incredible donation for WFP’s emergency relief in the Philippines,” said Hunter Biden, Board Chair of World Food Program USA. “Their support is going to make a real difference for so many Filipino children and families in need.”
“Don’t stop believing, help is on the way for the people of the Philippines,” said Arnel in a statement.
As well as at www.wfpusa.org/journey donations can be made in the USA by texting the word AID to 27722 to instantly donate $10.
