Julian Lennon says he is planning a series of events for the SXSW music conference and festival in Austin, Texas next March including a performance with an orchestra.
Lennon has just launched his documentary ‘Through The Picture Window’ in London as well as an expanded edition of his sixth studio album ‘Everything Changes’.
He plans to spend the entire 10 days at SXSW next year screening the documentary during SXSW Film and showcasing the album during SXSW Music as well as speaking at the convention.
For the music showcase Lennon says he would like the backing of an orchestra.
“I met with the management team in Los Angeles recently and talked about doing something quite special,” he told Marco Gandolfi of Music-News.com in London. “We will probably look at doing a screening out there, a gallery, an exhibition of collections, an acoustic session with Q&A and then at the end of 10 days a full 90-minute production show with full or partial orchestra”.
Julian is investigating ways to raise money and awareness for his charity White Feather Foundation and local charities during SXSW. The White Feather Foundation helps people suffering from lack of clean water and sanitation. Nearly 5000 people a day die from preventable water-born diseases.
After SXSW, he says he then wants to do one-night only shows in about 10 major cities around America with orchestras.
