Justin Bieber is now free from his 2014 vandalism case, after serving almost two years on probation.
Bieber pleaded no contest to vandalism in July, 2014 for pelting his former neighbour’s property with eggs in Calabasas, California earlier that year. He was placed on two years probation and ordered to complete community service hours, an anger management course and pay restitution to the resident, Jeff Schwartz.
In November, Justin was taken off formal probation after completing all requirements and receiving a glowing report from his probation officer.
This meant he would complete the rest of his probation sentence informally and, according to California state law, wouldn’t be formally supervised or have an official to report to.
Justin is now finally free from the case, according to TMZ.com. He reportedly impressed authorities at the Probation Department and a judge granted his lawyers’ request to end the probation early on 9 June, 30 days before its official expiration date.
However, Jeff Schwartz also filed a lawsuit against Justin last year (15) for emotional distress, claiming the singer terrorised locals in the gated community with wild parties, car racing and spitting in the months before the egging incident.
Justin, 22, moved out of the Calabasas property months after the arrest and sold the mansion to reality TV star Khloe Kardashian.
The vandalism case came at the height of Justin’s bad boy behaviour, but he insisted he was working on becoming a better person in the run-up to his music comeback with album Purpose.
“There’s so much I need to work on,” he told Britain’s Telegraph magazine in November (15). “And I’m still getting days where I’m depressed and upset. But I know that I’m not where I used to be. So that really keeps me motivated. I’m not where I wanna be – but at least I’m not where I used to be… that’s a cool little slogan I’ve been living by.”
