If someone told you that the next new music from Justin Timberlake would be folk songs you would immediately check the calendar to see if it was April Fool’s Day.
Folk is exactly the music genre you will be hearing next from popstar Justin Timberlake.
Timberlake stars as Jim Berkley in the new Coen Brothers movie ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’ and sounds more like Peter, Paul & Mary than his 20/20 Experience on the soundtrack.
Previous Coen Brothers movies include ‘O Brother Where Art Thou’, ‘No Country For Old Men’ and ‘True Grit’.
This movie, set New York City’s Greenwich Village district around 1961, features Timberlake as a folk singer. Justin features on three songs in the movie. He performs the folk song ‘500 Miles’, originally recorded by The Journeymen in 1961, with the movies co-stars Carey Mulligan and Stark Sands. He is also on ‘Please Mr Kennedy’, a folk romp he adapted with T. Bone Burnett and the Coen Brothers for the movie. Timberlake teams up with Marcus Mumford for their first ever collaboration on ‘The Auld Triangle’.
T. Bone Burnett, Joel Coen and Ethan Coen produced the music for the movie and Marcus Mumford of Mumford & Sons acted as Associate Music Producer.
Warner Music Australia will release the ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’ soundtrack on November 8, 2013. The movie will premiere in Australian cinemas on February 4, 2014.
