Justin Timberlake has broken records with his new single Suit & Tie.
The singer took a break from music to focus on acting and until last week hadn’t released a new track since his 2006 album FutureSex/LoveSounds.
But the 31-year-old star has proven his fanbase is strong as ever.
MTV News reports Suit & Tie moved 310,087 digital copies in just one week via an iTunes exclusive.
The number is a personal best for Justin. His 2006 single SexyBack moved 250,000 by comparison.
Justin’s music label also reports Suit & Tie reached number one on iTunes singles charts in 31 countries. That includes the US, Canada, England, Brazil, France and Sweden.
It made the top 10 on iTunes’ singles charts in 54 other countries, according to the outlet.
Suit & Tie is number 14 on the Billboard Top 40 Airplay chart but managed to break US radio airplay records as well.
MTV reports the song earned ‘the biggest song debut, airplay increase and audience increase for a solo artist ever’.
Suit & Tie features Jay-Z and was co-written and co-produced by Justin and Timbaland, who produced many of the tracks on the singer’s last album.
Justin posted a letter on his website at the time of the release and promised fans more to come.
The new single will feature on his album The 20/20 Experience, due out later this year.
