Kanye has a new song ‘Ye vs. the People’ with T.I. were the two rappers debate opposing sides of politics. As expected, West takes the Trump side.
“I know Obama was Heaven-sent
But ever since Trump won, it proved that I could be President,” West starts in the rap.
“Yeah, you can, at what cost though?
Don’t that go against the teachings that Ye taught for?,’ T.I. retorts.
West makes a valid point with “All Blacks gotta be Democrats, man, we ain’t made it off the plantation” when T.I. takes it away from politics and focuses on the real issue of competence and morality with the line “You representin’ dudes just seem crude and cold-hearted”.
The T.I. lines are absorbed in logic “What you willin’ to lose for the point to be proved?
This shit is stubborn, selfish, bullheaded, even for you”
West justifies the political stance of the song, “Is it better if I rap about crack? Huh? ‘Cause it’s cultural?”.
T.I. suggests West is all part of Trump’s propaganda machine. “Startin’ to make it seem like Donnie cut you a check”.
‘Ye vs. the People’ is a wonderfully balanced argument displayed as a rap. While you may or may not agree with West’s extreme right leanings, respect that he is using this medium to but the conversations most Americans are having into a song.
While West may be pro-Trump he also has heroes like Parklands survivor and activist Emma Gonzalez.
