Kanye West has hit back at fellow musician Deadmau5 after he accused the rapper of piracy.
West hit headlines on Tuesday after Deadmau5 branded Kanye a “dick” on social media for sharing a picture of his computer with an Internet browser tab open for pirating website Pirate Bay. The image suggested he was illegally downloading synthesizer software Serum, which is sold by the electronic artist’s Xfer Records.
“What the fuck @kanyewest…” Deadmau5 wrote. “Can’t afford serum? Dick. Let’s start a Kickstarter to help @kanyewest afford a copy of Serum. He needs a small loan of 200$ #prayforyeezy.”
Not one to hold his tongue, the Yeezus star took to Twitter on Wednesday (02Mar16) to hit back at Deadmau5 and launch his latest tirade online. Kanye didn’t explain why he had been browsing Pirate Bay, instead focusing on attacking the dance star, who is known for wearing an oversized mouse head during his sets.
“@Deadmau5 … is this person’s name pronounced dead-mow-five?” he began. “# ok very serious question…# whose job is it to carry the head on the plane # hash tag # do you check the mickey mouse head or carry on # does it get hot? # ok another super serious question … is there a portable fan situation? (sic)”
While his tweets were initially quite tongue in cheek, Kanye soon took a harder line with the 35-year-old Canadian, who also happens to be a fellow co-owner of streaming service TIDAL.
“# hash tag you raised Tidal’s subscriptions by a whopping (three mouse emoji) downloads,” he criticised. “# I’m bored ### when you get married will your wife have a giant minnie mouse head? # This brightened up my day… thank you dead-mow-five.(sic)”
Kanye continued to enjoy himself by imagining Deadmau5 playing at his two-year-old daughter North’s next birthday party.
“Do you do birthday parties??” he asked. “My daughter loves Minnie mouse… can you please bring the minnie mouse head … not yours she specifically likes minnie mouse … I need you to perform at her party with specifically a minnie mouse dead-mow-five head… not a mickey mouse dead-mow-five head. I’m very detail oriented and I will know the difference so don’t try to just throw a bow on the original head…(sic)”
Deadmau5 is yet to reply to Kanye’s series of tweets.
