Kate Miller-Heidke has become an indie artist.

The Australian singer-songwriter has confirmed that she has left her long-term record label Sony Music and will release her next album herself.

“I have *BIG NEWS*. I am now no longer with Sony Music and am an independent artist,” Kate tweeted. “I hope to crowd fund my new album ‘O Vertigo!’”

Kate has taken to pledgemusic.com to fund the ‘O Vertigo’ album.

“After releasing 3 studio albums, a live album and a side-project album through a major label, I am now a fully independent artist,” she writes at PledgeMusic. “I’m about to head into the studio for album #4, and I’d love your help and involvement as I set out on the next part of this journey”.

Kate released three albums through Sony Music as well as one under her alt-electronica alias Fatty Gets A Stylist. The three albums have all been hits in Australia. ‘Little Eve’ (2007) reached 11, ‘Curiouser’ (2008) reached 2 and ‘Nightflight’ (2012) also peaked at 12.
