Katherine Jenkins will now wear the letter OBE after her name after receiving the honour from Queen Elizabeth II in the New Year’s Honours list.
Welsh-born Katherine Jenkins has been singing since the age of 10 when she joined the Royal School of Church Music Cathedral Singers. She is now one of the UK’s most popular classical artists.
“I am incredibly humbled to receive this great honour,” Katherine said in a statement. “To accept such an award after only a decade of service to music and charity comes as a wonderful surprise. I share this award with the charitable bodies I am so privileged to work with, especially to those brave servicemen and women who risk so much for us all on a daily basis.”
