Katy Perry’s promotional vehicle endured ‘substantial damage’ after a drunk collided with it.
A gold truck was commissioned to promote the singer’s forthcoming album Prism by driving across America.
According to TMZ, the vehicle’s ill-fated journey ended in disaster after an intoxicated semi-truck driver slammed into it near a truck stop on a Pennsylvania road. The Friday night collision allegedly caused ‘substantial damage to the cab’.
Apparently the semi-truck driver is being arrested for driving under the influence. Katy wasn’t in her promo vehicle at the time of the crash and others who did occupy the transportation vessel are all said to be in good health.
The singer seemed to have alluded to the accident on her Twitter account Friday.
‘THE #PRISM SEMI IS BUMPED & BRUISED BUT SHE IS A CHAMPION! SHE WILL RETURN…’ Katy wrote to her over 40 million followers.
The star is preparing to release the first single off her Prism record on Monday.
She has been promoting the track entitled Roar throughout the week, releasing the cover art to fans via Twitter on Wednesday.
Katy previously revealed she was going in a distinctly different artistic direction with Prism.
“I know exactly the record I want to make next. I know the artwork, the colouring and the tone… I even know what type of tour I’m doing next. I’ll be very pleased if the vision I have in my head becomes a reality,’ she told Billboard. ‘[Redoing Teenage Dream 2.0] would be silly. It’s not of any interest for me to try and outdo myself at every corner. Eventually you just like pop, explode.”
Prism, her fourth studio album, will be released October 22.
