Katy Perry ‘Roar’ will easily top the Australian singles chart this weekend while Lady Gaga ‘Applause’ won’t even make the Top 10.
Australian sales for both artists are following the sales pattern of the USA and UK with Katy Perry easily outselling the much-hyped Lady Gaga to date.
‘Roar’ is set to topple last week’s number one song ‘Talk Dirty’ by Jason Derulo feat. 2 Chainz with Gaga ‘Applause’ will be locked out of the Top 10 during its second week on sale. That is not a good sign for Gaga’s upcoming album ‘ARTPOP’.
In the USA, Lady Gaga has outsold Katy Perry in overall album sales. Lady Gaga total album sales are 8,817,000 to Katy Perry’s 4,333,000 (according to SoundScan) but Perry’s last album ‘Teenage Dream’ outsold Lady Gaga’s last album ‘Born This Way’ by 7,749,000 to 2,298,000.
Perry has sold more digital songs than Gaga overall. Katy Perry individual song sales are 49,897,000 to Gaga’s 46,322,000.
Lady Gaga’s biggest song was ‘Poker Face’ (6,987,000 sales). Perry’s biggest hit to date is ‘Firework’ (6,341,000 sales).
Katy Perry’s album ‘Prism’ will be released in October. Lady Gaga ‘ARTPOP’ is due early November.
