Ke$ha has added Sony Music to her legal case against Dr. Luke.
The Tik Tok singer filed a sexual assault lawsuit against the music producer in October 2014. But in a new claim filed on Monday, the 28-year-old added the company, stating they should be held liable for enabling the ‘abusive relationship’.
In the papers filed in Los Angeles, Song Music was named as a defendant which allegedly ‘ratified, condoned and encouraged Dr. Luke’s unlawful conduct,’ according to the New York Daily News.
In Kesha’s original paperwork, she spoke of how the 41-year-old songwriter-and-producer signed her when she was 18 and promised her the music career of her dreams. But she alleges that he soon turned on her, drugging and raping her, before threatening her life and causing her to suffer from bulimia.
It said Dr. Luke, whose real name is Lukasz Gottwald, once forced her to snort an illicit drug before a getting on an airplane and then “continuously forced himself” on her.
On Monday, the singer’s legal team added that Sony Music had provided corporate resources to aid Dr. Luke’s career and knew how he was “treating female entertainers under his tutelage and supervision”.
The music producer has fought back against the claims and filed his own breach of contract lawsuit against the singer shortly after her original complaint. He also got a judge to unseal secret deposition transcripts from a separate court proceeding in which Kesha denied he ever carried out any sexual conduct towards her.
“Dr. Luke never made sexual advances at me,” she testified under oath in the 2011 transcript previously obtained by the outlet.
Kesha’s lawyer Mark Geragos quickly dismissed the transcript and insisted that it only served to highlight how Kesha was living in fear of Dr. Luke and afraid to tell the truth.
Song Music is yet to comment on its involvement in the case.
